What is CySEC?

In short

The Cyprus regulator that authorises and supervises investment firms serving customers in the European Union.

CySEC is the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, the national regulator for investment firms in Cyprus. Many brokers that serve EU customers are authorised there, and a CySEC licence is the regulatory basis for offering accounts across the European Union.

Regulatory listings here mix CySEC with other authorities. Abf Trade Eu is listed with Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), Admirals with FCA, CySEC and ASIC, and Capital.com with FCA, CySEC and Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

Each CySEC authorisation carries a licence number you can look up in the regulator's public register to confirm the firm's status and permissions. The licence number listed for Capital.com is HE 354252.
