What is Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC)?
In short
The Cyprus regulator whose licence references appear on the regulatory pages of several European providers.
The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, usually shortened to CySEC, supervises financial firms in Cyprus. An EU licence lets a provider serve customers across the bloc under one set of rules, and each firm shows its reference.
Abf Trade Eu lists 171/12, and Hfm Partners lists 183/12. For crypto providers the reference takes a different shape: Capital.com shows MiCA CASP 984500C46B3B7B69Y904 and eToro shows MiCA CASP 213800GIFQMSV7HROS23, both marked as MiCA crypto asset service provider authorisations.
The reference is the quickest way to confirm the licence is real and to see what it covers.
