What is FSCS?
In short
The UK scheme that compensates eligible customers of a failed authorised firm, up to a set cap per person.
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme is the UK protection scheme that pays compensation to eligible customers if an authorised firm fails and cannot return their money. Claims are handled per person, and the compensation is capped, so a large balance is not covered in full.
Several brokers here are covered at the same level. Admirals, AJ Bell, Alchemy Markets, APM Markets and ATC Brokers each show investor protection of FSCS up to GBP 85,000.
Protection depends on your account being eligible and the firm failing, not on trading results, so check whether the account you hold sits under the scheme.
