What is ASIC?

In short

Australia's securities regulator, named in the regulatory details of several providers alongside their own home regulators.

ASIC is the Australian regulator responsible for securities and financial services, and it authorises firms that hold an Australian licence. Providers often name it in their regulatory list next to the regulator of their home market.

Amillex lists FSC and ASIC, and its Australian licence reference is 559321. Anzo Capital lists Financial Services Commission (FSC), Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and ASIC, which pairs ASIC with the Financial Services Commission and the Capital Markets Authority. Admirals lists FCA, CySEC and ASIC, which covers the FCA, CySEC and ASIC together.

An Australian licence adds a second set of rules and a place to complain to. A reference number lets you look the firm up rather than take the claim on trust.
